Optus Network was down
I am using Optus Mobile, home phone and boardband internet. This morning, I found I cannot use internet until around 2pm. Moreover, my mobile was not working as well. Afterward, I read the news a cable was broken this morning. A lot of QLD optus users were affected
Hard disk backup
I just went back from Hong Kong. I got an external harddisk around HKD$500 for 160GB. Well, I believe there is not many reasons for myself to burn DVDs as the backup method. I got a NAS at home. Now, I will create another copy in my external harddisk. It saves time and money.
I am still a friend of Fedora.
I have a number of VM in my box, Fedora, Ubunta and Mandriva. Finally, I have chose Fedora as the main development environment. That is because I like to use yum.
I can replace or give away some test boxes after I installed VMWare
I installed VMWare, I started to create some virtual machines as my test box. Some software I am not sure what kind of performance impact to my pc. Normally, I will try to install that into a text box first. But now, I can create a text box within my main pc as an isolated environment by virutalization. In this way, that is more environmental friendly, less pc (Well, only used my old pc as a test box.)Anyway, I can consider to give away some test boxes.
Mandriva is a good choice of Vista Alternative
I have installed VMWare. I have got three Fedora, Ubunta and Mandriva. I found my VM with Mandriva KDE. That is the best. The interface is the most like with Vista. The "Start" button menu structure is very similar and is similar with the user document structure of Vista, such as "Download".
Moreover, the actions are very smooth with 512 MB VM. That is an good option.
